Slack Integration Guide

Learn how to connect Useful to channels where you work with customers. This guide shows you how to set up the integration and use it to automatically track Slack-based conversations and deal insights.

Overview

Add Useful to Slack channels where you work with customers, and it'll keep your CRM up to date while you focus on selling.:

  • Keep track of customer needs and concerns in one place

  • See which deals are moving forward, which are stuck, and why

  • Work naturally in Slack without changing your process

Connect Slack as Workspace Admin

  1. Go to

  2. Navigate to

  1. Click "Connect to Slack"

  2. Select your Slack workspace

  3. Authorize Useful with the required permissions

Note: Only one workspace admin needs to complete this step. Once connected, all team members can use the integration.

Add Useful to Channels With Your Prospects

  1. Open the Slack channel where you're working with potential customers

  2. Click the channel name at the top

  3. Select "Integrations" from the menu

  4. Click "Add apps"

  5. Search for "Useful"

  6. Click "Add" to add the Useful bot to the channel

Pro Tip: Add Useful to channels where you:

  • Run product trials & POCs with customers

  • Answer questions about your product and offer

  • Share docs, slides, recordings, demos, and documentation

  • Coordinate implementation details and followups

What Useful's Slack Bot Does

  • Updates your CRM with deal progress and qualification details

  • Identifies key decision-makers, stakeholders, and their evolving role in the deal

  • Tracks questions, concerns, and feedback from prospects

Real-World Example

Let's say you're working with a prospect on a 2-week POC:

  1. You add Useful to your #acme-poc channel

  2. Your team and the prospect discuss implementation requirements

  3. Useful automatically:

    • Identifies technical requirements mentioned

    • Logs information about their decision-making process

    • Tracks who's engaging and who's listening

    • Alerts you to potential risks or blockers

Important Notes

  • Useful refreshes Slack data every 15 minutes

  • The bot only processes messages after it's added to a channel

  • All data is processed in compliance with Slack's terms of service

Best Practices

  1. Add Useful Early: Add the bot to prospect channels as soon as they're created or after a prospect joins the channel

  2. Work Naturally: Just communicate as you normally would - Useful's smart enough to understand your conversations and track everything happening with the deal
