A coaching relationship is a 1:1 relationship between a sales manager, and a rep. A sales manager can coach many reps, but a rep can only be a part of one coaching relationship.
Coaching relationships can be created from two places - directly within Slack, or within the Useful app.
Once the Useful Slack App has been installed in your Slack Workspace, you can create a coaching
First, create a new channel between you (the manager) and the rep you are coaching. You may also use a pre-existing Slack channel.
We recommend creating a specific channel for coaching where all Useful-related communication will happen. For example #aaron-kaycee_1-1.
Once you've created a channel, type /useful new
to bring up the "Create relationship" modal.
Start by choosing the rep you are coaching, then set the cadence of your 1:1s. The cadence repeats weekly and will be used to schedule the delivery of messages to help you prep for your 1:1s each week.
If the Slack channel you are using for your coaching relationship is private, you must invite the Useful App to the channel to receive messages. Just type /invite
in the channel, then search for Useful App to invite it.
Coaching relationships can also be created from the Useful web app. To create a relationship, go to the "Coaching" tab (g
then c
) and click [New Relationship].
Start by choosing the rep you are coaching, then set the cadence of your 1:1s. The cadence repeats weekly and will be used to schedule the delivery of messages to help you prep for your 1:1s each week.
Then choose the Slack channel where you'd like the Useful Slack App to send messages. The channel should be a Slack channel between you and the rep you are coaching. You may choose a pre-existing one, or create a new one from the dropdown.
We recommend using a dedicated channel specifically for Useful-powered coaching. For example #aaron-kaycee_1-1.
To delete a relationship you've created, visit the "Coaching" tab (g
then s
). Hover over the team member whose relationship you want to edit, and click the …
on the far right of the table and click "Edit". To delete a relationship you've created, click "Remove from team".
Note that removing a coaching relationship does not remove them from your Useful workspace.
